Area Underclassman Forward Has D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a free look at the individual game of Ryan McCoy, a forward prospect with nice size and the ability to hit the deep ball ...

Ryan McCoy, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound forward from Montgomery High School in the state of New Jersey, is an intriguing prospect due to his size, skills and age. A rising junior, Ryan has already scored a scholarship offer from Iona College, a division one program located in New Rochelle, New York, according to Team NJABC head coach Matt Pauls.

McCoy, who showed us the ability to hit the deep ball while playing for head coach Matt Pauls and Team NJABC over the summer, will need to add some strength to his frame to provide more consistency in his offensive production.

He does have an offer from Citadel but Pauls also stated that Fairfield, Davidson, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard and Robert Morris had also expressed a degree of interest.

WHAT TEAM NJABC HEAD COACH MATT PAULS PREVIOUSLY SAID ABOUT RYAN MCCOY'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Because of his size and his ability to score points on many parts of the floor, college coaches are interested.

"He's only going to be a junior next Fall. So he has some time to make even more progress in his game. I expect him to become a better player because he's a hard worker.

"He's emerging as one of the better players in the area from his class. He can play the wing position. He is one of the best pure shooters in the 2011 class (New Jersey)."
