Mike Poole, a solid division one prospect from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey, scored 16 points to help lift the New York Elite, 79-69, over the Brooklyn Ballers in a pool game played in the IS8 Fall League yesterday afternoon.

Poole, who possesses long arms, scored in several ways, including on trips to the rim and some long-range jumpers.

The Elite led 28-21 after the first eight minutes of play and 42-39 at the half. However, key free throws converted by Kareem Canty helped the Elite hold off a late rally by the Brooklyn Ballers.

Kenny Halley had 16 points for the Ballers. Angel Nunez contributed 15 points for the winners and Canty had 15 too, the last eight on free throws, mostly in the final three minutes of play.

A.J. West also had a good game for the Elite, producing 11 points.
