HIGH SCHOOL: Abington Friends High School in Jenkintown, Penn.

CLASS: 2011, a current junior

AAU TEAM: Team Phenom out of Philadelphia, Penn.

PREVIOUS GAMES: Joey scored 12 points and added eight assists in the Junior/Senior All Star game held at the Midnight Madness event held in Chester, Penn.

The weekend event was sponsored by Pony & Youth Interlock.

Previously, we reported that Gripper pumped in 19 points and added 11 assists to help his team, The Brotherhood, claim the 17 and under championship in the Mill Creek Summer League.

*Gripper also helped Team Phenom advance to the Final Four in the NIKE Chosen League, only to lose to a team sponsored by NBA player Thaddeus Young in the semifinals.

Here are some more highlights of Joey's summer:


Gripper, who made the all tournament team, tallied 15 assists in a semifinal playoff game game at the event and also scored 14 points and had 11 assists in the team's championship victory. Team Phenom defeated the New York Panthers, 68-57.

*Joey made the all tournament team at the Southern Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia.


According to Joey's family, Harvard, Pennsylvania, St. Bonaventure, and Drexel have offered Joey. Maine, Davidson, LaSalle, Northeastern, Stanford, Seton Hall, and Charlotte are considered very high on the list too.

In addition, Siena, Columbia, Iona, Elon, and Yale had previously been mentioned as being schools of interest.
