NJ Underclassman Has Decent D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a free player profile look at the individual game of Ryan McCoy, who competes on the high school level in the state of New Jersey ...

Ryan McCoy, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound forward from Montgomery High School in the state of New Jersey, is a player worth watching over the next couple of seasons due to his size and skill level.

We got a sampling of his ability by watching him compete this summer for Matt Pauls' Team NJABC AAU basketball program. He showed us the ability to knock down long-range jumpers.

Some areas to improve: Consistency with defenders in range on his jumper and getting some more strength into his frame.

He already has offers from The Citadel and Iona, according Pauls.

In addition, Ryan has interest from Fordham, Boston University, Siena, and Fairfield.

PREVIOUS EVALUATION REPORT ON RYAN MCCOY:

Ryan is an intriguing prospect due to his size, skills and age. A current junior and member of the 2011 class, he has displayed the ability to hit the deep ball.

"Ryan continues to get stronger, and he's working on his ball handling," said Pauls.

WHAT TEAM NJABC HEAD COACH MATT PAULS PREVIOUSLY SAID ABOUT RYAN MCCOY'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Because of his size and his ability to score points on many parts of the floor, college coaches are interested.

He's emerging as one of the better players in the area from his class. He can play the wing position. He is one of the best pure shooters in the 2011 class (New Jersey).
