East Coast Underclassman Has Solid D-1 Looks

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides an individual look at the game of an underclassman who is having a terrific start to his high school basketball season ...

Kenny Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound small forward/shooting guard prospect from Abington Friends School in Jenkinstown, Pennsylvania, produced 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first game of the Harrington Tournament.

In addition, Kenny followed up with another terrific game, scoring 15 points and grabbing seven rebounds to help his team claim the tournament title against Harrington. Johnson was named to the all tournament team.

Johnson's play has helped spark early recruiting interest in his individual game.

A 2011 prospect and current junior, he is currently averaging more than 15 points per game and pulling down six rebounds per contest.

Kenny, who plays also for Paul Gripper's very competitive Team Phenom AAU basketball program during spring and summer events, is a player that can score near the rim and is working on polishing his games in two important areas -- his ballhandling and perimeter game.

Pennsylvania, Columbia, Yale, Wagner and Bryant. He remains open in his recruiting process.
