New Jersey Two-Sport Athlete Takes Visit

Reporter Mike Sullivan had a chance to update us on two-sport athlete Anthony Gaffney of the Pennington School in the state of New Jersey ... Gaffney recently took a campus visit ...

Anthony Gaffney, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound football/basketball prospect from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, said he took an unofficial campus visit for football over the past few days.

"I visited Connecticut," he said. "It was an unofficial visit. I had a good time. There were about 20-25 of us taking the visit."

Gaffney has also taken a visit to Rutgers for football.

Anthony said he hopes to take more campus trips. "I don't know when it will be," he said. "I got basketball the next few weekends."

We previously reported his big football interest in Maryland, Rutgers, Connecticut, Virginia and North Carolina. He remains open in his recruiting process.

WHAT HIS HOOPS AAU COACH MATT PAULS SAID ABOUT ANTHONY GAFFNEY AS A BASKETBALL PLAYER:

His midrange game has improved dramatically. He has been attacking the rim with a vengeance. He needs improve his ballhandling and penetrating left.

Anthony was invited to many elite camps in June. He attended basketball camps at at Columbia, Penn, Cornell, Bucknell and St. Joe's. In addition, Gaffney competed at the Hoop Group Elite camps.
