Harold Spears, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound two-sport star from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, has had a terrific year playing basketball for his team.

The Pennington School is scheduled to play a big playoff game today.

"I'm averaging around 16-17 points per game," said a very consistent Spears.

Spears also averages around eight rebounds per game and a couple of steals.

Harold scored 18 points to help his high school basketball team win an important game against Peddie, 55-51.

Spears has surpassed the 1,000 point mark in his high school basketball career.

Spears, who was recruited in both basketball and football, signed a letter of intent to play football at New Hampshire.

Previously, Spears had interest from Akron, Temple, William and Mary, James Madison, and Villanova for football.

WHAT MATT PAULS THINKS OF HAROLD SPEARS' INDIVIDUAL GAME: "As his coach for the last five years with Team NJABC, I have watched Harold grow as a player and person, and he is a tremendous young man. His grades are excellent (3.7 GPA I think) and he is taking high level college prep courses.

"Harold has improved his skill level. He is hitting the perimeter shot more consistently and getting to the rim. He plays primarily on the wing but uses his size to get rebounds.
