New York City Guard Set For Prep Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on a guard from New York City who is expected to take a prep season up north and polish his individual game ...

Deshaun Wiggins, a 6-foot guard prospect from New York City, is expected to be on the road with Gary Charles' New York Panthers' AAU basketball program during the summer.

"We'll be playing in the Summer Classic in Neptune on July 11th-12th," said Charles, who spoke to us yesterday afternoon during a break in the action at the Rumble in the Bronx, an event held on the campuses of Manhattan and Fordham.

Charles outlined some more tournament information regarding where one can watch Wiggins and the Panthers compete. "There's a one-day event in Connecticut, at Quinnipiac," said Charles. "We'll be there on July 13th."

Then there's the trip to Las Vegas in the middle to late part of July that the Panthers usually make at this time of the year. In August, it's time to rest. "Then we'll be ready for the IS8 (Fall League)."

Wiggins will play at Bridgeton Academy in Maine for the 2010-2011 season. "He's open in his recruiting," said Charles.
