New Jersey Two-Sport Star Has Top 3 List

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on two-sport athlete Anthony Gaffney, a basketball and football player who has some high division one interest ... Gaffney currently has a top three list ...

Anthony Gaffney, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound football/basketball prospect from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, said he has a top three list in his football recruiting process. He's also finished up his campus trips for now.

"As of now I'm pretty much wrapped up with the visits," Gaffney said. "Unless any school expresses major interest."

Anthony competed at some of the top football camps too. "I went down to North Carolina, Boston College and Connecticut," he stated.

"UNC, UConn, and BC, which are my top three. I participated participate in their camps. UNC was a weekend camp while the other two were just one day affairs."

There was more than just playing football too on these visits. "I got a chance to visit the campuses as well as have some more time to speak with the coaches," he said.

Gaffney is now ready to play in some boy's basketball AAU events and tournaments for Team NJABC.

"The hoops season is picking up so I can't wait to take this last AAU season by storm," he concluded.

Anthony averaged around 11 points a game as a basketball player last season a junior.

RECRUITING INTEREST: Gaffney has made it clear he'll play college football.

His midrange game has improved dramatically. He has been attacking the rim with a vengeance. He needs improve his ballhandling and penetrating left.
