NJ Skilled Forward Has Division One Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a look at the individual game of skilled forward prospect Ryan McCoy, a basketball player from the Garden State of New Jersey ...

Ryan McCoy, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound junior forward prospect from Montgomery High School in New Jersey, is a skilled frontcourt prospect who is worth keeping an eye on during the evaluation month of July.

McCoy will be very busy with Team NJABC too. "I will be playing at Neptune this weekend," he said. "Then I'm going to Quinnipiac and then I'm playing in West Virginia."

To finish off his summer, Ryan will head down to Florida and play in the Super Showcase.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT RYAN'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

McCoy has shown the ability to dent a zone and drain long range jumpers. His footspeed has improved and he is getting stronger.

PREVIOUS EVALUATION BY MIKE SULLIVAN:

We've had a chance to watch McCoy play a few times over the past year. The 2011 prospect impressed us due to effectiveness from shooting the ball in the corners.

There are areas to improve and most of them are physical. As his body matures and he adds weight and muscle, Ryan will feel more confident to take the ball to the rim as it's likely defenders will try to suffocate his shooting game.

WHAT AAU COACH MATT PAULS SAYS ABOUT RYAN MCCOY:

Team NJABC head coach Matt Pauls believes Ryan is one of the more skilled forwards in the state of New Jersey. Coach Paul likes Ryan's ability to hit the jumper and produce points.

CURRENT OFFERS: The Citadel has offered. He also has interest from Boston University, Siena, and Fairfield.
