PLAYER PROFILE: Joey Gripper

HEIGHT: 6-foot-1

WEIGHT: 166 pounds

HIGH SCHOOL: Abington Friends High School in Jenkintown, Penn.

HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: Steve Chadwin

CLASS: 2011, a rising senior guard prospect

AAU TEAM: Team Phenom out of Philadelphia, Penn.

AAU TEAM HEAD COACH: Paul Gripper

BIG GAMES THIS PAST FALL: Gripper was named the MVP at the 2009 Harrington Tournament, hosted by Harrington High School.

Gripper scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had four assists as AFS defeated Hatboro Horsham, 70-51.

In the second game, Gripper played more the role of playmaker, distributing nine assists, making four steals and grabbing five rebounds. He didn't turn the ball over once, according to AFS assistant coach Dave Fields.

BIG GAMES FOR JOEY GRIPPER THIS SUMMER:

Gripper scored 16 points, added 11 assists and three steals to help Team Phenom produce a 77-57 victory over Smyma Stars in the Peach State Classic in Aiken, SC (thanks to his AAU coaches for the info).

Previously, Joey scored 15 points and had two teams to help Team Phenom blasted the Georgia Heat. Gripper followed up the solid effort wtih 22 points and eight assists in the Bigshot's Slam in South Carolina.

RECRUITING

Gripper was previously offered a scholarship by Appalachian State, according to Joey's dad, Paul.

According to Mr. Gripper, Joey has also taken campus trip to Harvard and played in their Elite Camp event while making the top 20 All Star game (200 prospects at the event).

St. Bonaventure, Northeastern, George Mason, and Delaware have been previously mentioned by Mr. Gripper as being schools his son was interested in researching.
