Harris took an unofficial campus visit to St. John's University this week, according to his dad, Torrel.

"The visit was great," said Mr. Harris. "We met with all the coaches including Coach (Steve) Lavin, who by the way is great guy and big Fortyniner fan.

"We covered lots of topic about St. John's University. I truly believe he's going to turn the school basketball program into major a powerhouse. He has a great coaching staff.

Mr. Harris was impressed by the recruiting done by the St. John's assistants as well as Lavin during the contact period.

"His staff followed Tyler the whole summer doing the evaluation period so they know his strengths and weaknesses," said Mr. Harris.

"They like the fact that he's very skillful player that can move and shoot the ball and long. They believe as I do that Tyler is still growing that he could be 6-foot-11.

"Tyler was very impressed with all the coaches. He thought coach Lavin was real cool. We toured the school, ate some lunch in the new student center. It was a great unofficial visit." "Tyler also took unofficial visits to the University of North Carolina on June 21st and North Carolina State the following day. His father said the visits went well.

In addition, Harris took a trip to Rutgers and had a chance to meet new head coach Mike Rice.

"Tyler spoke alot to Mike Rice about the goals he has set at Rutgers and how he's going to get Rutgers out of the cellar of the Big East," said Torrel Harris, Tyler's dad.

"Tyler felt Coach Rice has a vision and a realistic plan in place to help lift Rutgers to be one of the top teams in the Big East. Tyler feel the coach has lot of energy and passion to make players to want to play for him. "He had put together a great coaching staff with Van Macon," concluded Mr. Harris.

Harris has mentioned interest previously in Iowa, Syracuse, Connecticut and Seton Hall.

STRENGTHS: Moves well without the basketball. He gives his guards a passing lane by finding the right spots to take his shot. He's quick near the rim too.
