Rising Senior Worth Watching This Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan profiles the game of a rising senior prospect who is competing at a high school on Long Island this upcoming year ...

St. John The Baptist head coach Jim Plate is very excited to have a very talented forward on his roster this upcoming season.

Dante Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward, has Plate speaking very highly of the 16-year-old's skill level.

In fact, Plate thinks Thompson has the potential to be much like J.J. Moore, the outstanding small forward from Brentwood who is going to compete for Pittsburgh in the Big East this season as a freshman.

"He is the most athletic kid we have had at St. John the Baptist," said Plate. "Dante transferred to us as a junior from Florida with only one year playing experience."

Thompson will be a senior this season. "He works extremely hard and soaks in everything he is taught," added Plate. "When he first got here I gave him a tape of our game with Brentwood and JJ Moore and told him this is who you could be like. He is getting close."

DESCRIPTION OF DANTE THOMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Dante runs the floor with speed and purpose. He shoote the deep ball effectively too. "He has been working very hard on his handle with Coach Kevin Foley," said Plate. "This young man has a tremendous upside."
