East Coast Forward Helps Team Win Title

Jerrell Wright, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward/center from Dobbins High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, finished up his summer in fine style.

Wright, playing for Mustafa Shakur in the NIKE Chosen League 19 and under league, dropped in 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to league his tem plast Jrue Holiday, 54-49, in the title game.

Previously, we reported that Jerrell had given a commitment to the La Salle basketball program, according to the coaches in his AAU program, Hunting Park.


Jerrell started off his IS8 spring league season with some terrific games, including scoring 38 points against the Playaz Club of New Jersey.

Jerrell, a member of the 2011 class, a rising senior, previously had offers also from Drexel and Temple. He also had received interest from West Virginia, Siena, and Massachusetts.

As a junior, he averaged close to 22 points a game, 14 rebounds and three blocks.

Jerrell also scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in a victory over Simon Gratz High School for the Class 3A Public League Championship.
