Long Island Star Transfers To NJ School

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides an update on the status of Long Island rising senior star Tyler Harris, who has transferred to a New Jersey based school ...

Tyler Harris, a 6-foot-8 guard from Long Island, New York, has transferred from Half Hollow Hills West High School in Dix Hills, New York. "We're confirming he has transferred to St. Benedict's," said his father, Torrel.

St. Benedict's is located in Newark, New Jersey and plays one of the best national schedules.

We previously reported that Harris had taken some campus trips, including a visit to Providence College.

We also reported that Tyler has a top 11 college/university list in his recruiting process -- St. John's, North Carolina State, Washington, Duquesne, South Florida, Providence, Iowa, Rhode Island, Wake Forest, Connecticut, and Rutgers.

"Providence trip went well," said Mr. Harris. "Tyler enjoyed meeting Coach Keno Davis and his staff."

Mr. Harris added: "Providence is great academic school with rich history. I didn't know so many great players went to the school from Lenny Wilkins, John Thompson, Ernie D, Marvin Barnes, Eric Murdock, Ryan Gomes, Chet Walker, Eric Williams ..."

Mr. Harris said the visit helped gather information on many topics of interest to Tyler.

"We had some great meeting with coach Davis about a lot of different topics," Mr. Harris stated. "We toured the facility in which I classified as state of the art. We met the academic advisor, the strength, speed & agility trainer. We watched film of their offense and how Tyler would fit in their system."

Mr. Harris concluded: "Overall it was a very good unofficial visit."
