New Jersey Prospect Will Stay Close To Home

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a recruiting update and decision made by a division one prospect who hails from the Garden State of New Jersey ...

Kazembe Abif, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound power forward who competed at University High School in Newark, New Jersey, has given a verbal commitment to Drexel, according to Team NJABC head coach Matt Pauls.

As we reported previously, Abif officially reclassified to the 2011 class. He played for Pauls' highly regarded Team NJABC AAU program. Team NJABC competed in the best AAU tournaments around the country during the month of July.

Abif will play for The Lawrenceville School this season.

Previous interest came from Army, NJI, Boston University, Lafayette, St. Peter's, Fairfield, and Quinnipiac.

WHAT MATT PAULS PREVIOUSLY SAID ABOUT KAZEMBE ABIR:

Kaz is a player who plays above the rim and effectively in the paint. He tough to stop around the basket. He can dunk on you and make you pay if you leave him with a loose ball near the basket. He's been working hard on trying to improve his perimeter game.
