Millbrook Wide Receiver Drawing Interest

Millbrook is the home of the nation's top running back, Keith Marshall. However, Corey Cooper is making a name for himself. The talented junior wide receiver talks about his season, recruiting, and more.

Corey Cooper of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C. picked up an offer from North Carolina State in May. He is now hearing from several schools.

"Recruiting is going real good, I am going to Maryland next weekend when they play Virginia," said Cooper. "Right now I am hearing from South Carolina, Alabama, Clemson, Maryland, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Auburn, and Duke."

Who could be the next to offer the Wildcats' receiver?

"I think Maryland and Tennessee are close to offering. They send me the most mail," he said.

The season has been one of ups and downs for Millbrook, but Cooper has remained positive.

"The season has been kind of frustrating, but I think we can make a deep run in the playoffs. We have a chance to be a sleeper team," he said.

Although it is early in the recruiting process, some schools have made an impression on the Raleigh native.

"Some of the schools that are sticking out are Tennessee, Maryland, Alabama, Duke, Notre Dame, and N.C. State," Cooper said.

Cooper knows what he is looking for when time comes to make a decision.

"The environment, academics, and the fans are going to be big," he said. "I also want to play for a team that can compete for national championship."

For now, Cooper is focused on finishing the year strong.

"I want to make all conference and make a run in the playoffs," he said.

The Millbrook receiver is not the biggest or fastest player; however he has good hands and runs solid routes. He must get stronger, but has a chance to become a good possession receiver at the next level. He has nearly 400 yards receiving on the season and 6 touchdowns.
