Rogers Next in Line at Crest

Crest High School has produced numerous star players. This year has been no different with Jonathan Bullard and Rhaheim Ledbetter. However, junior defensive end Dane Rogers is beginning to generate serious interest from numerous schools.

Although he has yet to receive his first offer, Dane Rogers (6'3/235) is beginning to attract interest from several schools.

"Duke and Clemson are recruiting me the hardest," said Rogers. "Louisville, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Oregon are also recruiting me."

Rogers currently has no favorites, but plans to make several visits during the offseason.

"I got invited to both, the U.S Army All-American and Under Armor combines," he said. "I plan on going to one of those, and then I will probably start visiting schools. I am going to try to visit Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia."

Currently, Rogers is focused on his season and the playoffs.

"As far as the playoffs go, I think we can make a run. We just need to take it one game at a time and finish what we started during the regular season." Rogers said.

The Shelby Crest (NC) product knows his strengths, but is also quick to mention an area where he needs to improve.

"I play very well against the run and can really fight through the gaps," he said. "An area I need to improve is my pass rush, even though I have some sacks this season."

Football is not everything to Rogers and he will look at several things when he makes his final decision.

"I want to feel a connection with the school and fit in academically. I want to go somewhere where I can reach all my goals. My relationship with the coaches and players will also be important," said Rogers.

Once college coaches have chance to see Rogers on film, I think he will receive several scholarship offers. He has a great frame, long arms, and is extremely athletic. However, he will need to get stronger and add some weight. Rogers has a lot of potential and he should be one of North Carolina's top prospects in 2013. He bench presses 290 pounds, squats, 370, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. Crest finished the season 7-3 and plays St. Stephens in the first round of the playoffs Friday.
