Duke Has Two Offers

Evan Duke played through pain during his senior season. The Wake Forest-Rolesville standout tore a ligament in his thumb, but still managed to have a big season.

Over the past two seasons, Evan Duke has been one of the top pass rushers in the state. Although he is somewhat of a sleeper prospect, Duke, is beginning to hear from more schools.

"Right now, I have offers from East Carolina and South Carolina State," said Evan Duke (6'4/220). "I am also hearing from Minnesota, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Connecticut, and Colorado."

Recently, one school has really showed an increased amount of interest.

"West Virginia is recruiting me the hardest and I think they could be close to offering," he said.

Duke knows his strengths of the field.

"I am a pass rusher," Duke said. "My specialty is getting after the quarterback."

The Wake Forest-Rolesville product will start taking his official visits after Christmas break.

"I will probably take three visits," he said. "I am going to East Carolina and South Carolina State. I am also going to visit one other school, but I am not sure which school that will be yet."

He will be looking for certain things when he takes his visits.

"I am looking for a school with a good weight training program and a school that has a good football history," said Duke.

Duke played nearly the entire season with cast on his thumb. However, he still managed to have a good year. Although he has played exclusively defensive end during his high school career, most schools are recruiting him to play outside linebacker. During his senior season, he had 68 tackles, 12 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, eight pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He earned all-conference and all-state honors this past season.
