"It was like a lot of the combines I went to last year," said Mike Sutton (6'2/290). "There was probably between 150 and 200 kids there. My favorite part was being able to compete with the other people in the one-on-ones. I thought I performed well."
An offensive lineman from Panther Creek High School, in Raleigh, N.C., Sutton, is waiting on his first offer. However, he is already attracting interest from several schools.
"I have heard a lot from Duke, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech," he said. "I get about four to five letters a week from them. I am also hearing from East Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, and Michigan."
Sutton already knows what he is looking for in a school.
"I really want to go to a school that is close to home, so friends and family can come watch me play," said Sutton. "I also want to go to a school that has good academics, because football will not last forever."
With a little over a year until signing day, Sutton is already beginning to put together a timeline for his recruiting process.
"I would like to narrow my list down in August," he said. "I want to make a final decision during my senior season."
There is a lot to like about Sutton's game. He has a good combination of strength and athleticism. He really fires off the ball delivers a good initial punch at the line of scrimmage. Sutton also has extremely good feet and plays with good leverage. He bench presses 350 pounds, squats 500, and carries a 3.82 GPA in the classroom.
