McNeil Opens Back Up

Josh McNeil was offered a scholarship by East Carolina in December and committed immediately. However, McNeil's stock is rising and he has officially decommitted from the Pirates.

"I just wanted to reopen my recruitment," said Josh McNeil (6'5/240). "Some schools were telling me that being committed to a school was holding them back from offering me."

Vanderbilt extended an offer to the Hillside tight end last week and several other schools are aggressively pursuing him.

"The main schools recruiting me right now are North Carolina State, Florida, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina," he said. " I am also expecting an offer from South Florida soon."

The junior prospect will be taking some visits in the near future.

"I am going to visit N.C. State or North Carolina this weekend," said McNeil. "I am also planning to visit Ohio State and Florida in April."

McNeil has an idea of when he would like to make a decision.

"I will probably make my decision sometime this summer," he said.

Last season, McNeil had 62 catches for over 500 yards and six touchdowns. It was his first year playing football.
