For the remaining undecided division I-A recruits, the month of January is huge in their decision process. Each recruit spends a good bit of the month hosting coaches for in-home visits, and also – more importantly – taking official visits.
The only real mystery left in the 2005 recruiting class will be the lone North Carolina
native making a visit this weekend. Derek Nicholson
of Winston-Salem Mount Tabor will travel to Tallahassee to officially visit what some consider his leader: Florida State
With his brother A.J. currently on the Seminoles' roster, Nicholson has made plenty of unofficial trips to FSU's campus. It will be interesting to see what Coach Bobby Bowden and his staff throws at the Scout.com four-star prospect to gain that slight edge.
This Monday, live on ESPN, Nicholson will announce his decision. Despite visits with Texas and Virginia Tech, the 6-foot, 230-pounder will choose between two schools.
"Texas got into kind of late so it probably will come down to Florida State or North Carolina," Nicholson told Dave Peters of TheTerritory.org. "It's going to be a tough decision."
