Spencer Receives Offer from Favorite

Division I-A offers continue to pop up for the players located in Eastern North Carolina. The latest being Owen Spencer, who two weeks ago received a verbal offer from his leader – N.C. State.

"I went up there for a junior day and we just talked," said Spencer. "They verbally offered me. I want to go there, its one of top schools that I want to go to."

Location and a quality football program is what attracts the 6-foot-2, 165-pound wide receiver from Leland (N.C.) North Brunswick, but it's his ties to the program and university that give the N.C. State coaching staff an unmatched edge.

"They're in-state, they show a lot of interest in me and they're just a good football program," said Spencer. "I have family that goes there and a good friend of mine is in the coaching system there – Jerrick Hall."

Despite favoring the Wolfpack, Spencer didn't pull the trigger with a verbal commit. He wants to wait things out seeing what other options present themselves before pledging.

North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, and Illinois have also express solid interest in Spencer, but N.C. State is the only school to extend an offer.

Last season, Spencer helped lead North Brunswick to a 10-2 record (7-0 conference). He caught 30 passes for 802 yards and 13 touchdowns.
