Invitation Only Shrine Bowl Practice Date Set

According to the Shriners, the invitation only practice held after the conclusion of all five Shrine Bowl Combines has been tentatively set for May 28th. However, the location is still up in the air.

The North Carolina Shrine Bowl coaching staff plans to cut their list of potential Shrine Bowl players down to a manageable amount and set them free on the practice field. Based on the performances of the invitation only practice, the coaching staff will then select the 44 who will represent the Tar Heels against the Sandlappers on December 17th in the 69th Annual Shrine Bowl.

The practice location was originally set for Carolina Stadium, but schedule conflicts have forced a move. Waddell High School in Charlotte and the University of North Carolina are now being considered as possible sites.

Last year was the first time an invitation only practice was held. Kernersville Glenn – home of then head Shrine Bowl Coach Dickie Cline – hosted last year's practice.

The Shrine Bowl Combines, which is the primary tool in selecting players to the practice, makes its last stop this Saturday in Jamestown (Ragsdale High School). The tour has visited Snow Hill (Greene Central), Rockingham (Richmond Senior), Asheville (A.C. Reynolds), and Charlotte (Butler) thus far.
