Setting the Track Ablaze

While Dakota Marshall waits for his recruitment to pick-up his track season has begun to accelerate.

"We had a conference track meet and overall our high school placed first," said Marshall. "Individually I placed first in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and my team came in first in the 4 x 100 and 4x 200 – I anchor in both."

Dakota Marshall, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete from Jacksonville (N.C.) Southwest Onslow, ran the 100-meter in 10.56 seconds and 200-meter in 22.16 seconds. With Marshall at anchor, Southwest Onslow recorded 43.30 seconds in the 4x100 and 1:30.00 in the 4x200.

The meet wasn't the only event that Marshall has left a track ablaze. In April Marshall attended three combines where he posted solid 40-yard dash times – an average of 4.44 seconds. Since his combine performances, college interest\has increased.

"Virginia has really picked it up," said Marshall. "I talk to North Carolina a lot, too. They want me to come up to their summer camp and work with the DB coach one-on-one."

In addition to camping at Chapel Hill, Marshall will camp at East Carolina, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

Marshall, whose lone offer is from East Carolina, still favors the Tar Heels. The commitment of Kendric Burney, Marshall's teammate, has only magnified those feelings.
