Position players will have their height and weight measured and will be tested in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump, and bench press (repetitions of 185 pounds). They will also participate in position specific drills for evaluation purposes.
Participates receive the opportunity to earn a Shrine Bowl roster spot and impress collegiate coaching staffs in attendance.
Predicting the attendees to this combine is the hardest of the five combines for two reasons: its centralize location opens the door to many players, and the Nike Combine in Athens, Ga. will steal some talent. However, Hertford's speed ‘back LaMarcus Bond and Elkin's DE Terry Adams are expected to be on hand, and Ragsdale's finest – QB Trevor Mullins and TE Brandon Phelps – should represent.
A special invitation only practice will be held on May 28th at a location still to be determined. Waddell High School and the University of North Carolina's campus are possible venues.
The combine is open to any rising sophomore, junior or senior at the cost of $15.00. Shrine Bowl Combine Coordinator Jim Bob Bryant can be contacted at 252-717-8681 for any questions.
