Taylor Picks Up First Football Offer

To his surprise, Ryan Taylor didn't have to earn his first scholarship offer on the summer camping circuit. Vanderbilt, a school that has been on him since the start of his recruitment, decided to extend Taylor that memorable first tender almost a month before their one-day camp.

"Vanderbilt offer last week," said Taylor. "They called my house and talked to me and my parents about it. It feels great for the first one to come in, I hope more will follow."

Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound wide receiver/tight end from Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mt. Tabor, says Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Wake Forest have picked up their recruiting efforts and could likely follow the Commodores with an offer.

Not only does his future college decision rest on his shoulders, Taylor, who owns a lacrosse scholarship from Virginia, also must choose between football and lacrosse.

"I'm going to the Virginia lacrosse camp," said Taylor. "That will help me make my decision on them or not, because if I'm going to play lacrosse it's definitely at UVA. I then want to go to the [football] camps and make my decision then."

Taylor will attend one-day camps at Vanderbilt (June 5th), South Carolina (June 11th), North Carolina (June 12th), and Wake Forest. He is also considering traveling to Knoxville for Tennessee's camp.
