Two Camps Yield Two Offers for Jacobs

Similar to the combine season, the college camping season never fails to introduce new division I-A recruits to recruiting fans.

After a few one-day camps, Vince Jacobs, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound tight end from Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day, is the latest recruit to move into the recruiting spotlight.

"Wake Forest offered Sunday," said Jacobs. "Vanderbilt offered last Sunday at their camp. I went to South Carolina Saturday and they are supposed to get back to me this week; they said they weren't making any on the spot offers."

Extending Jacobs an offer proved to be a good move by both coaching staffs, especially with a decision in the immediate future.

"Those two are high above my list right now," said Jacobs. "I have a few more camps coming up. After I get done going through camps I'll be making a decision."

Jacobs will attend camps at Tennessee and Clemson next week and then end his camping schedule at Virginia Tech.

While the two offering schools are high on Jacobs's favorites list, it's another school that claims the leader position.

"Right now probably my leader is probably Virginia Tech," said Jacobs. "I have just always been a fan of Virginia Tech for a long time. After Virginia Tech it's then Virginia and Wake."

Last season, Jacobs caught 13 passes with three of them resulting in touchdowns.
