Four Safe For Visits for Spikes

Brandon Spikes is one of the top players in the nation this season, coming in as the number 77 player on the national Hot 100. While schools across the nation are after the Shelby (N.C.) Crest linebacker, he is closing in on narrowing his focus.

"I'll narrow it down probably at the beginning of the season," says the 6-foot-4, 230 pounder. "I like Miami, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Virginia Tech, and Virginia.

"I've been down to Florida, and I'm going down the whole week of Independence Day. I went down there for their junior day. Ihad a great time, and I'm ready to go back."

When it comes to official visits, Spikes says that the battle is really for the fifth and final visit.

"I'm going to Miami, I'm going to Florida again on an official visit, LSU, and Oklahoma.

"I am trying to get somewhere I can be an immediate impact, I'd like to feel at home and just get on the field early and help."

A tough choice for the schools is where to play the big man. Nearly ready to outgrow his linebacking posiiton, Spikes thinks he has the ability to stay scraping away on the second level.

"I weight 230, 235. At 230 they are undecided where they want me to play, but if they put on 10 pounds of muscle they want to put me at (middle linebacker)."
