Spikes Opens Recruitment, Taking Visits

After naming a soft list of favorites over the summer, Brandon Spikes has decided to completely open up his recruitment.

"I'm just staying opening and taking my time and taking visits," said Spikes. "I visited North Carolina this past weekend and I'm going to visit N.C. State, too – I'm going to check them out, too."

Spikes, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker from Shelby (N.C.) Crest, will narrow down his list of scholarship offers to the five schools he will officially visit by the end of August.

"Everybody is about the same," said Spikes. "I'm just staying open, so we'll just see. I'm about to work on my five [schools I will visit] now. I'm going to set all that up and get that on schedule hopefully in a month."

Spikes will schedule each of his official visits during the college football season so to soak in each school's game time atmosphere.

Over the next few weeks, Spikes will be weighing many factors while deciding on his final five.

"Probably just the opportunity of playing early really," said Spikes. "Also what I'm going to be majoring in [communications], the coaching staff and the players – see if I can get along with them and trust them, and the area."

A Scout.com four-star prospect, Spikes is currently the 77th ranked recruit in Scout.com's National Hot 100.
