"South Carolina offered towards the end of the school year," said Harper. "The coaches [John Thompson] came by my school [and extended an offer]."
Although known for his tailback played at Reynolds High School, Harper is being recruited by the Gamecocks to play cornerback.
Over the summer, Harper made his first visit to Columbia to check out the campus and workout for the coaches.
"I went down for the camp," said Harper. "I really liked it. It was nice down there. I liked the coaches, too."
Harper liked it so much that he has been contemplating a verbal commitment. Although he plans to hold off on committing until after his senior football season starts, Harper has designated South Carolina as his clear cut leader.
"They're my leader," said Harper. "From what I've seen down there, they've got a good program, good coaches, and they want to win – I like that."
During his junior season, Harper rushed 203 times for 1,317 yards (6.49-average), and 12 touchdowns.
