Marshall is ECU's Top Target

Despite a very impressive opening to his senior football season, Dekota Marshall still sits with only one scholarship offer. However, that lone tendering school has really begun to bring the house with their recruiting efforts.

"East Carolina is my only offer still," said Marshall. "They called Coach [Phil] Padgett and told him I was their number one prospect. They send me stuff everyday, more than anyone else."

Marshall, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete from Jacksonville (N.C.) Southwest Onslow, has been favoring North Carolina for quite sometime. However, with the increased Pirate pressure and lack of interest from the Tar Heels the tide is starting to slowly turn for East Carolina.

"It makes me feel good," said Marshall. "I like ECU, Carolina is just waiting – I guess. I'm going to try to go to some ECU games to get a feel for the campus."

Things should start to pick up for Marshall. He had an excellent showing at the Pigskin Preview Jamboree where he scored a handful of touchdowns, and then contributed two touchdowns and 113 yards in a 55-8 victory over East Columbus in Southwest Onslow's season opener. More impressive is Marshall's performance against East Columbus came on only ten carries and had three touchdowns called back.
