Regardless, Mullins, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle from Wendell (N.C.) East Wake, has begun to hold discussions about official visits.
"I have been talking to a few coaches lately [about official visits]," said Mullins. "We talked about the process and when would be a good time for me to come down and see one of their games. I've been talking to Nebraska, Tennessee, Auburn, and Oklahoma."
Mullins was actually set to take his first official visit this upcoming weekend, but family plans have forced him to reschedule.
"Nebraska wanted me to come down for my official this weekend," said Mullins. "I won't be able to do it because me and my family have something else planned."
Although he won't take official visits to either in-state schools, North Carolina or N.C. State, Mullins is still very interested in both. He has unofficially visited both campuses countless times, and feels very knowledgeable about both programs.
With a Scout.com four-star recruit starring on defense, East Wake is off to a 5-0 start. During those five games, Mullins has accumulated 30 tackles including 13 for a loss and five sacks.
