Sutton with 3 Officials before Decision

Since the start of his recruitment, Devven Sutton has long been considered a strong Virginia Tech lean. Although the Hokies remain as his leader, the battle for Sutton's commitment isn't over just yet.

"Right now I think I'm leaning towards Virginia Tech," said Sutton. "But, East Carolina is still in the race right now.

"I like the coaches and I also like that they have a very good graduation rate, and also they have a very good football team."

Sutton, a 6-foot-1 233-pound linebacker from Elizabeth City (N.C.) Northeastern, owns scholarship offers from East Carolina and Virginia Tech, as well as Hampton.

Prior to making a final collegiate decision, Sutton will take an official visit with each of his offering schools – East Carolina on January 6th, Virginia Tech on January 21st, and Hampton January 28th.

Before heading off to his January official visits, Sutton's focus is Saturday's Shrine Bowl. In addition to battling it out for time with an incredible linebacking corps, Sutton will be double-shifting at fullback.

"Right now we have two stars – Matt Woodlief and Brandon Spikes, both are really good guys," said Sutton. "I have to play both ways, so right now I'm switching up practices – one practice play offense, one practice play defense. Right now, it's been hard because they have new things everyday."

Woodlief and Spikes will start at the inside linebacker positions, while Patrick Fitzgerald will see the most time at fullback. Sutton will be the main substitute at both inside linebacker and fullback.
