An Official Sealed the Deal

After holding out for scholarship offers from other division I-A schools for most of his recruitment, Javon Brumsey decided to verbally commitment to East Carolina, the school that tendered him in the spring.

"I committed to ECU on my official visit," said Brumsey. "I had a lot of fun on the visit – I enjoyed the players, the facilities, the coaches, and stuff like that."

Brumsey, a 6-foot-5 188-pound wide receiver from Elizabeth City (N.C.) Northeastern, officially visited East Carolina the weekend of January 13th. He has an official scheduled with Hampton this upcoming weekend, but that trip has been canceled.

In addition to ECU, Brumsey held offers from Hampton and Rutgers and received strong interest from N.C. State.

"N.C. State came on strong for a while, but never offered," said Brumsey, who at one point considered the Wolfpack his leader.

During his senior season, Brumsey broke Northeastern's career record for receiving yards. On the year, he caught 51 passes for 967 yards and seven touchdowns. As a junior, Brumsey pulled in 64 passes for 1,098 yards and seven touchdowns.
