Howard Claims a Pair of In-State Offers

Last summer, Steven Howard made a name for himself during Wake Forest's seven-on-seven passing tournament, in which he played a major role in Charlotte (N.C.) Olympic's tournament victory. For his efforts, Howard has received two scholarship offers and is considered one of the top in-state receivers.

"I have [offers] from N.C. State and Wake Forest," said Howard. "I got Wake Forest last year when I went up to the seven-on-seven [passing tournament]. I got [N.C. State] this year, I can't remember when."

Howard, a 6-foot-3 180-pound wide out, is also seeing interest from Ohio State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Virginia.

While Howard lacks a clear cut leader, the proximity of a few programs has definitely caught his eye.

"I don't really have a favorite," said Howard. "N.C. State is one of [my favorites], because they're in North Carolina, and [I like] Clemson and Virginia Tech, too. I want to stay sort of close to home."

To further his recruiting stock, Howard plans to make quite a few summer camps. He has received invitations to attend camps at North Carolina, N.C. State, Clemson, and Virginia Tech, but is still contemplating his destinations.

Howard will, however, attend junior days at Duke (February 19th) and N.C. State (February 25th).

Playing in a spread offense attack, Howard caught 43 passes for 642 yards and six touchdowns as a junior earning a spot on the all-conference team.
