Two In-State Schools Offer Saunders

With the likes of Brandon Woods, Carl Johnson, Marshall Williams, and Greg Little coming out of Durham the past three years, the Bull City continues its reputation as one of the recruiting hotbeds of North Carolina.

The latest name added to that list is Wesley Saunders, a 6-foot-5 245-pound defensive end/tight end from Riverside High School in Durham (N.C.).

"So far I've gotten offers from UNC and N.C. State," said Saunders. "Clemson is looking like they are pretty close too, so does East Carolina."

Although Saunders is strongly considering both offering schools, it's two other schools that currently hold the title of co-leaders.

"I really like Notre Dame and Florida," said Saunders. "I've been liking Notre Dame since I was a little kid, because I'm from Indiana. With Florida, I just really like how they run the program – how they throw to their tight ends."

This Saturday Saunders will take his first unofficial campus visit when he attends N.C. State's junior day. The following Saturday he will head down to Clemson for the Tigers' junior day.

Over the summer Saunders figures to attend plenty of camps including Michigan State, Notre Dame, N.C. State, and North Carolina.

Saunders earned all-region and all-conference honors as a junior after recording 20 catches for 308 yards and six touchdowns at tight end, and 52 tackles, four sacks, 14 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles at defensive end.
