ECU Mails out Offer to Roberts

Wednesday afternoon Desmond Roberts received his fourth scholarship offer.

"I got an official scholarship offer in the mail [Wednesday] from East Carolina," said Roberts. "When I got home I was reading my mail, and the first one I saw was an East Carolina folder. I opened it up and it said ‘Congratulations, you are now awarded a full scholarship to play football for East Carolina."

Roberts, a 6-foot-5 265-pound center from Gaston (N.C.) Northampton-West, also possesses offers from North Carolina, N.C. State, and Virginia Tech.

As for favorites, N.C. State is still holding onto their leader position, but Roberts admits things could change.

"[N.C.] State is still on top right now," said Roberts. "Until I visit the rest of the schools they'll be on top. [After I visit other schools], they still might be on top, or might be tied, or might drop down. I still haven't been to Florida."

On April 22nd Roberts will be making that visit to Florida for the Gators' Spring Game. He had wanted to attend either North Carolina's or N.C. State's spring games on April 8th, but a wedding will prevent those plans. He is also trying to work out an unofficial visit with East Carolina.

Over the summer, Roberts figures to camp at North Carolina, N.C. State, and possibly Florida.

While his combine drills numbers weren't staggering, Roberts was among the cream of the crop offensive line during one-on-one drills at Scout.com's All-American Combine earning a spot on the All-Combine Second Team.
