"It's very exciting; it's a great experience for me. My confidence has been raised extremely regarding this football season – knowing what I can do. Number one overall, it's an amazing feat."
Scott bench pressed 185 pounds a personal best of 23 repetitions, and tied a personal best in the 40-yard dash with a 4.47-second run. He then went on to vertically jump 34 inches and clock a 4.0-second 20-yard shuttle run.
Not surprising, Scott was among the best at Scout.com's All-American Combine and the Elite 8 Combine both held earlier in the spring.
According to Scott, his secret to success is just old fashioned hard work.
"[I just] train hard, work out, and eat well," said Scott.
Despite his rising sophomore status, Scott already has the attention of plenty colleges around the nation.
Recruiting is virtually the last thing on Scott's mind, but he does plan to camp at Clemson and N.C. State in June, and Auburn in July.
During his freshman season at Durham (N.C.) Southern, Scott mostly played wide receiver where he caught 18 passes for 221 yards, and rushed 42 times for 271 yards and 12 touchdowns.
With three senior running backs graduated, Scott figures to see more touches this season and a new role.
"I'm going to run the ball more like an h-back like Reggie Bush," said Scott. "I'm going to catch the ball out of the backfield and run the ball."
In the weight room Scott has increased his maximums in the bench to 275 pounds, squat to 350, and power clean to 225. He also maintains a 3.75 grade-point-average.
