"I was talking to Coach [Mike] O'Cain from Virginia Tech, he was talking about offering, but we haven't talked too much lately."
Culliver, a 6-foot-1 190-pound defensive back, busted onto the recruiting scene after his performance at Scout.com's All-American Bowl were he clocked the day's best 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds. He followed that up with one of the better defensive back performances in one-on-one passing drills.
A few weeks later, Culliver delivered a 4.28-second time in the 40-yard dash at the Shrine Bowl Combine, and then a 4.37-second time at Clemson Sunday.
Culliver is also planning to make a few unofficial visits.
"I was thinking about checking out Virginia Tech, and Coach [Thomas] Roggerman [of East Carolina], he wants me come up there some time," said Culliver.
As for his pledge to the Wolfpack, Culliver maintains it's firm.
"Schools are trying to get me out of the commitment," said Culliver. "It's a little strong, but I'm looking to see what's best for me."
As a junior at Garner (N.C.) High School, Culliver played strong safety where he totaled 127 tackles, seven sacks, and two interceptions.
