A few weeks back, Barnes unofficially visited South Carolina. On June 2nd he will make his second unofficial visit when he travels to North Carolina.
As for summer camps, Barnes knows he's camping somewhere on June 10th, but isn't sure if it will be East Carolina, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
Although Barnes has some unofficial visits to take, he knows enough about two schools to give them the nod as his co-leaders.
"[I like] South Carolina and North Carolina – they're like the same," said Barnes. "North Carolina, they have Hakeem [Nicks] going there and me and him are real close. And, they're supposed to be throwing the ball a lot more. I'm going to go to a couple games this year to see if they are going to throw the ball.
"South Carolina, they're already throwing the ball. I know they are going to throw it there, and I'm a potential starter taking Sidney Rice's position because they plan on him going to the league [NFL] next year. They need somebody to play his spot and I can be the one to play his spot."
During his junior season at Charlotte (N.C.) Independence, Barnes caught 30 passes for 300 yards despite playing behind two senior wide receivers including North Carolina signee Hakeem Nicks.
