Linny Holds Three Offers

Among the more impressive defensive linemen on hand for the Shrine Bowl invitation only practice Saturday included Kyle Linny, a 6-foot-2 285-pound nose tackle from Taylorsville (N.C.) Alexander Central.

"I think I did pretty good," said Linny. "I'm a little out of shape, but I think I did ok.

"It feels good [to be playing with and against the best in North Carolina]. It shows me that all the hard work that I've put in is paying off. I'm glad to be out here with a lot of people that have talent."

While Linny is an unknown from the public's standpoint, recruiters are hot on his trail.

"I only have three offers right now – N.C. State, East Carolina, and South Carolina," said Linny. "State came about May the 2nd, and then East Carolina and South Carolina came last week.

"Clemson is showing me a lot of interest, but they haven't offered me yet."

Linny is also fielding interest from Georgia and Tennessee.

During the spring, Linny's lone unofficial visit was to Clemson when he attended the Tigers' spring game. While he didn't leave Clemson with an offer, he did leave with a leader.

"Clemson right now is on top," said Linny. "I'm not looking to decide yet, but they are one of my favorites. I love the atmosphere down there; it's a real good football town."

Over the summer, Linny will revisit Clemson for the Tigers camp. He also plans to camp at N.C. State, among others.

As a junior at Alexander Central, Linny earned all-conference honors for his play at defensive tackle.
