Baldwin's four Scores Leads to Win

ARDEN, N.C. --- Christ School receiver Avyd Baldwin caught his 4th TD pass of the game with less than 6 minutes to play in the 3Q to give the Greenies a 45-20 lead over the Carolina Pride. The Pride scored 20 unanswered points and CS held on for the 45-40 win at home and a record of 2-2.

The scoring started quickly as CS QB Hough Price hit Avyd Baldwin on the first play from scrimmage on a 75 yd TD pass (kick Baugh) for a 7-0 lead. Avyd also had TD receptions on a 12 yd pass from Price early in the 2Q. For the half, Avyd Baldwin had 9 catches for 146 yds and 2 TD's and CS led 32-14.

Both teams continued to put up points in the second half. CS started the scoring after Tory Warren intercepted the ball to give CS possession at the Pride 24 yd line. On their 2nd play of the drive QB Keller hit Avyd Baldwin with his 3rd TD reception, this time 18 yds. QB Keller hitting Avyd for his 4th and final TD catch of 6 yds and CS had their biggest lead of the game at 45-20. Avyd Baldwin ended up with 13 catches for 179 yds and 4 TD's.

Tory Warren made big plays on the defensive side of the ball with 3 interceptions, including a 28 yd return for a TD to give CS a 26-8 lead.

Moe Martin was the leading rusher of the game with 82 yds on 16 carries and a TD on a 10 yd draw play up the middle with just over a minute to go in the first half.

The Pride scored 20 unanswered points to end the game with three touchdowns, along with a safety, but all of the 2pt conversions failed. The last Pride score came with less than 1 minute to play, but Quentin Nesbitt recovered the onside kick and CS ran out the clock to preserve the victory. QB Hough Price was 12-21 with 2 TD's for 204 yds and QB Mario Keller hit 7 of 12 passes for 77 yds and 2 TD's.
