During the 2007 high school football season, the Panthers will select ten elite student-athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom and play an active role in their respective communities as Community Captains. In order to be considered for a Community Captain, the player must meet the following criteria:
- Mandatory 3.0 GPA or higher
- Division I Football Recruit/Potential Scholarship Athlete
- Voluntary Community Service Record (Ex. Camp Instructor, Participation with School Food Drive/Toys for Tots program, Mission Trips, Visits to Nursing Home/Hospital, Participation with Local Boys & Girls Club/YMCA programs, or other worthwhile outreach service projects).
Winners will receive an authentic Community Captain jersey and will have
the opportunity to participate in select team community events with current
Panthers players in addition to being honored during an on-field ceremony at
the Panthers home game versus the Seattle Seahawks on December 16.
If you know a student-athlete that is worthy of being named a Carolina Panthers Community Captain, please inform the school's head coach or assistant coaches of the school. Applications can be found here. Only high school football coaches may make nominations.
While there is no deadline for community captain nominations, the Carolina Panthers strongly encourage and request that you submit applications as soon as possible to increase the student's chances of winning this prestigious award.
