Elite 8 Combine Date Set

The Sixth Annual Elite 8 Combine will be held on March 14 at Havelock High School.

The Elite 8 is a combine to get football players accustomed to the tests that will be used at the Shrine Bowl combines.

Athletes will be broken into eight different weight classes (0-164, 165-174, 175-184, 185-194, 195-214, 215-229, 230-249, and 250- and up) and will compete against athletes in the same class. There will be three trophies given in each weight class, based on the each athlete's total points gained from the four skill tests.

The four skill tests include the bench press (185 pounds or 135, if they cannot lift 185), 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and 20-yard pro agility shuttle. The four aforementioned events are the same events used at the Shrine Bowl Combines.

All high school student athletes are eligible to attend. The cost to participate is $10.

Weigh-in starts at 9 a.m. and the combine will start at 10:30 a.m.
