King Ruled Ineligible

According to sources close to the situation, Gabe King has been ruled ineligible to participate in any sport for the next year.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association ruled Thursday that King had provided Greensboro (N.C.) Page High School with false information regarding his residency. Thus, he is not permitted to participate in any NCHSAA sanctioned sports for 365 days.

When contacted, Leigh Hebbard, Guilford County's Director of Athletics, wouldn't confirm or deny the claims.

King eventually moved into Page's district. However, he has since transferred into Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford High School, which is dealing with its own separate eligibility investigation.

King and his family have the option to appeal the ruling.

If he doesn't decide to appeal or his appeal is denied, King will have to attend a private or prep school in order to play football this fall.
