With the school year over many areas in Ohio are holding all-star games. While most people know about the North - South Ohio game and The Big 33 many don't hear about games like the one held in Dayton on Friday night.
The Miami Valley Coaches Association held such a game at Welcome Stadium, not only was the action on the field heated the fans were treated to some area players home from college workouts to watch the game.
Watching his younger brother play was Ohio State DB Will Allen. Chris Allen a DB from Huber Heights Wayne showed the crowd early that making interceptions runs in the family. Will known for the big picks this past season in helping OSU win a national title saw little brother stop a South drive early in the first quarter by picking off a Ross Sferra pass. Would this be enough to help the North squad win its 5th straight all-star game?
Also sitting in the stands were OSU Linebacker A.J. Hawk of Centerville, West Virginia O-Linemen Jeff Berk of Wayne and many of the top juniors in the Miami Valley. Both Trotwood-Madison and Northmont had big-time recruits sitting in the stands.
The game had its good and bad, that is to be expected due to the lay-off and few practices held for the event. The South side coached by retiring Fairmont coach Rick Robertson showed more emotion than the North during the whole game and stuck with its game plan. In doing so they were able to post a 27-19 win, the first since 1998 in this summer classic.
Many players had great games and laid some heavy hits. But the OhioPrepScene players of the game are for the North Chris Clark QB from Springfield South and Derrick Moss RB from Dayton Dunbar. OhioPrepScene congratulates both of these players and wish them continued success.
