Recruiting is over for one of Ohio's top players. Brandon Underwood considered by many as the top DB in the state is putting an end to his recruiting. In speaking with Brandon's father The Rev. Underwood he stressed that Brandon hasn't told him or his mother which school he is going to pick. "We get to find out when everyone else does." Rev. Underwood told OhioPrepScene.
Mr. Underwood said "Brandon said that God has led him to his decision. And he wants to put an end to all the madness, and work on having a great senior season." The schools many feel are in the lead for Brandon are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Iowa and Purdue. Brandon will make his pick tonight at a special News Conference to be held at Hamilton High School starting at 6:00 p.m.
During our conversation Rev. Underwood spoke highly about all of the schools Brandon will pick from. "To have the chance to speak with and meet such great coaches and men like Coach Tyrone Willingham and Coach Jim Tressel has been great. We respect all of the coaches who have been in contact with the family during Brandon's recruiting. And I'm sure this is a hard choice for Brandon to make."
Rev. Underwood is one of a few parents to ever have two sons be involved with the recruiting process at this level. Brandon's brother E.J. Underwood also a top recruit picked Ohio State and was part of the Buckeyes National Championship run last season. The Underwood's also have another son who will play football at Thomas More College this year who was being recruited by Grambling State University. OhioPrepScene has asked Rev. Underwood to write about the recruiting process and he has agreed to do so. Stay tuned for his article.
The question still remains, Will Brandon follow in his brothers footsteps and head to Columbus. Or will his path take a different one. The last time I spoke with Brandon he stressed that his path could be different than his brothers. Keeping this in mind I feel while many have the feeling he will head to Ohio State. I have a gut feeling that the Irish may have earned a verbal from Brandon. In talking with other sources they have the same gut feeling as I do. But you never know. We could all be wrong. NOTE**Well now we know that I was wrong on this one. The Buck's get a great pick-up and now have to look at a large crowd in the defensive backfield. Best of Luck Brandon with the Buck's.
We all find out at 6:00 tonight, stay with OhioPrepScene for the article by Rev. Underwood and also we will speak with Brandon and Rev. Underwood on Thursday night and have a follow up piece on his choice.
OhioPrepScene would like to thank Brandon and Rev. Underwood for helping us cover Brandon's recruiting. Without the help of parents like the Underwood's our job would be so much harder.
