Firebirds Gear up For Season Opener

Bruce tells OPS about what he saw from the Bedford Chanel at its final tune-up for the season.

I went to the Chanel (Firebirds) scrimmage on Saturday, and wasn't blown
away by what I saw.   I guess the morning hour (10:00 a.m.) and the after
effects of the "blackout"  had the team running on  low voltage.     The
good news is the defense appears to be headed for another good year.  Coach
Stepka has his troops poised and ready to strike. The D-Line needs a little
tweaking but will be ok.

The offense is directed by senior quarterback Doug Alford, a very capable
field general.  He has shown improvement in practice and did a good job in
the scrimmage.  The Firebirds will be in good hands with him at the helm.

One thing that did get my juices flowing was freshman running back, D'Angelo
Coffin, he has good vision and speed to the outside.   Let him get a few
games under his belt and I can see Coach Powers calling his number.
