This much anticipated game between neighboring schools turned out to be a blowout by the Firebirds.

Warrenville's Tigers proved to be made of  paper as their offense never reached the "red zone" and only crossed the 50 yard line on two occasions.

The Firebirds got their high octane offense off and running early as the Tigers fumbled the opening kickoff and the "Birds" scored five plays later when quarterback Doug Alford scored the first of his three touchdowns following a 22 yard reception by senior Antonio Steele.  On their next possession junior running back Clarence Scott ran for 56 yards on 6 plays leading to a second Alford 1 yard touchdown run. The Firebird offensive line had their way; pushing defenders off the ball and opening up holes for the
running backs while giving Alford time make his throws.

The Firebirds could have put the game out of reach early but their offense stalled on Warrenville's 6 yard line when an Alford pass was dropped in the end zone by a wide open receiver.  Senior receiver Anton Veasley faced with double coverage throughout the game was overthrown on a play when open and
headed to the end zone for a certain score.

The Firebirds got things going again in the second half when Alford hit senior Jamar Dye on an 83 yard pass play to the Warrensville 3 yard line.  Alford went in once again for the third of his one yard touchdown runs.  The "Bird's finished off the scoring with a 15 yard run by Clarence Scott late
in the 3rd Quarter.  Scott finished the game with 129 yards rushing while Junior Tailback Chris McMilan added 115 yards.

Warrensville's highly touted senior receiver Trumaine Smith was missing in action all night as the Chanel cornerbacks Bruce Hampton and  Chris Lewis covered  him like a blanket.

The Firebirds travel to Pataskala Watkins Friday for their next game.
